This was A PR Shoot For the company that installed the Safety glass screens (Romag) at the new Lion enclosure at London zoo..

I was asked to shoot the enclosure and also try to show how close the public could get to the lions.. However the PR lady said you'll just be lucky to even see the lion let alone get it close to the glass! 10 mins later lol ... See more

Day 10 - Wrangler Student Competition

Some Friday Fun this really does take me back! When i was at Blackpool & flyde College in the early 80's Wrangler ran a student Competition the 12 selected winners were published in a calendar that was supplied to all their retailers!

This was my winning entry I was inspired by many photographers back then including John Thornton who produced surreal eroticism !

Day 9 William Thomas "The Lion heart"

As Nicknamed By Ticky Donovan the British Team Coach.,

I created this image digitally in photoshop a few years ago, as a pastiche of a B/W photograph I took of Willie launching an opponent into the air, with perfectly timed chudan gyaku zuki, at the British karate Championships at Crystal palace in 1986 I belive. The original photograph was published in Shotokan magazine after Willie won the Europen Title That Year.

Now seen here with His son Jordan who also Became a world karate champion in his fathers Footsteps an incredible story of athleticism and self belief . ... See more

Day 6 Heidelberg 1

Heidelberg Make the rolls Royce of commercial printing machines.. This was shot on transparency film in My studio in Sundon Park maybe mid 1990's in one take No photoshop!

Very simply its a table top covered in red colourama, Blue Colourama behind and lit using 2 focusing Spots to give a hard edge to the light and on the background the folding material was just held in place with Coat hanger !

It was used in an advert for There Stahl TD Folding systems designed by Murphy Varley advertising. ... See more

Day 5 Terry O'Neill

This intimate Portrait of Terry was taken on a seminar in Bedfordshire in 2017 as part of a Cover feature article for Ippon Martial Arts Magazine. I first Trained with Terry in the late 80's

However I was lucky enough to get to know Him much better when Simon Oliver & I went to the Budosai in Okinawa in 2016 and Terry was the guest instructor Invited by Higaonna Sensei.

What else you can say about Terry as a martial artist except perhaps that In 2006 the premier US martial arts magazine "Black Belt" published a list of the most "deadliest fighters on the planet"... Terry was No 1 on the list..! ... See more

This image represents a magical interaction with a shy and beautiful sea creature, that for once stayed completely unphased with my presence, so i had time to compose and work the shot though i soon finished my Roll of Transparency film!

I was diving on a Livabord in the red sea alongside the late Peter Scoones who was shooting fish behaviour footage for the original BBC Blue Planet series, late 1990's and my dive buddy that day was Martha Holmes the producer of the series.. (Not that i saw much of her on the dive)

When i had finished shooting i remained with my new buddy until is was almost out of air.I had the site to myself and I love this intimate portrait and it remains one of my favourite Underwater images I've ever taken. ... See more

Day 3 Video Arts

Video Arts was a company founded by John Cleese in 1972. I became involved through my Client SPS Advertising and shot all the behind the scenes and cover shots for the DVDs produced along with a magazine for quite a few years..

The company used humour to produce Training films and was a huge success..

Its slogan is a quote from John Cleese: “People learn nothing when they’re asleep, and very little when they’re bored"

This was a montage put together at the time by a graphic designer from some of the Cover Shots.. Dawn was always my favourite to work with and photograph she really was great fun to be around as was John if you were on the right side of him!

Day 2.. Royal Mail

Taken on Shetland as a part of case study shot for PR purposes
Illustrating the use of Royal Mail to help with local wool business..

Im not exactly sure when i shot this late 80's early 90's but I remember flying up to the shetland islands and it only being light for few hours a day and the local postmaster helping us "relocate" a real postbox on top of the mountain and a local shepherd getting his dog to pose the sheep!!

Things were much more fun before Photoshop!
